Friday (July 23) we headed to the beach... we drove from Tigard to Tillamook and then up the coast to Rockaway Beach. A little on the cold and windy side, but that didn't stop us from having a lot of fun! (and as we all decided later in the day, that's why it's called the Oregon Coast, not the Beach... because beaches are warm and have palm trees)
Bucket, shovel, sand, rocks, seashells... doesn't get much better than this!
Okay it does, throw in some waves and you have a perfect day!
Brennan taking Zippy for a run on the beach-- this little puppy loved the beach! We gave her some freedom (but not TOO much) by tying a water bottle filled with sand and water to her leash. That way she could run anywhere she wanted, but she was still slow enough to catch.
EmmaRay is helping Zippy dig a hole in the sand.Later in the afternoon the rest of the family showed up for some fun on the beach, and wouldn't you know it, the sun came out for real for awhile! We parked ourselves on the warmest place we could find and "dug in"-- literally!

Cute nieces, Marie & Tessa!
Cade & Tessa are now buried.
Michael is soaking up some sun.EmmaRay got tired during the afternoon. She was standing in the stream playing for a long time, then she walked over to the bank and put her head down, still half in the water. I brought her up on the warm beach and snuggled her into our jackets for a little rest. Cutest thing ever-- too bad I couldn't get the camera in time! Here she is at the end of the afternoon though, covered in sand and happier than ever!
